Why I love using R

Welcome back! I feel like i’ve been using R so much recently that I have to talk about it. For most of my recent jobs I very rarely (if ever) use R, but it’s such a powerful language for data science that I still use it, here’s why!

Handling of data

To give you some perspective, I use Python as well, and for some reason R just does a better job compared to my other languages of processing data. First off, the IDE is very simplistic, i’m able to see all of my data variables and can easily process any types of data I want to (that’s able to be processed). Compared to using Excel, R does a much better job at allowing us to process tons of data with very little effort, there are endless examples to this, but if you need to clean, change or modify large amounts of data, R can drastically save you a massive amount of time rather than manually modifying your data.

Front end development

This one may come across as crazy for some who are experienced R developers, but I love using R for the front end development. First off, RShiny is by far one of my favorite R packages, I discovered it last year and can’t stop using it. It allows us to easily create a front end for our data processing scripts, but my favorite thing about it is how modern these UI’s look. I normally would use Python or another language for the front end…
