The End Of StackOverflow
Welcome back! As some of you may have seen, StackOverflow was actually bought out by Prosus, another massive investment company. This specific acquisition was over 1.8 billion dollars! I honestly wasn’t aware that this website was worth that much money, that itself was definitely a shock for me without a doubt. However, there have already been a bunch of rumors circulating around of what the future of StackOverflow is going to look like, a comment from Reddit actually had me scratching my head:
Let’s break this down, some of this is actually true, a company doesn’t just spend 1.8 billion dollars on a project without having some plans on increasing the revenue, so what could this new investor do? In my opinion, I could see this company implementing a subscription model of some level, some have mentioned how great the job portion of the website is, so possibly this company could focus on that, but could that bring in that much more revenue? A majority of the attention that this website brings is through the Q&A portion of their website, this is essentially the most important part (at least to me) of their platform, so even if they made a subscription model outside of their Q&A portion of their website I just don’t see them making too…
